Bega Rotary Club hosts their 13th Annual Book Fair over three days in July. The Fair starts at 9am on Friday morning, 5th of July, running through Saturday the 6th and concluding on Sunday 7th at 1pm. The Bega Rotary Club hosts two Book Fairs each year to raise money for local charities. The first is held in January, the Summer Book Fair and then the upcoming Winter Book Fair in July. The Fairs are held in the Bega showground pavilion to allow plenty of space to accommodate the 30,000 books on sale.
The books are all good quality and cover all topics to suit all ages, both fiction and non-fiction categories. Patrons are invited to bring along a shopping bag and fill it, deals will be made on the day. EFTPOS facilities will
be available and entry is by gold coin donation.
Proceeds from the sales are allocated primarily to local community and youth projects. The main recipient for the Winter Book Fair this year will be Teen Clinic. Teen Clinic is a fantastic free service that provides local teenagers with advice on subjects and situations they may not necessarily like to discuss with parents or their carers. It’s an opportunity for them to talk to a nurse about a range of issues in a non-judgmental environment.
Last year substantial donations were made to the Community Carers accommodation project, Tathra bushfire recovery, Tathra nippers, Teen Clinic, Community Aged Care as well as the End Polio program and Australian Rotary Research into mental health.
There will also be books donated by renowned authors like Jacki French with proceeds going toward the Tathra Fire Recovery.
While you are at the Fair be sure to support the local youth organisations by enjoying a BBQ and purchasing something delicious from the cake stall on Friday and Saturday. So take time to browse the Bega Rotary Winter Book Fair to fill your shelves for your winter reading.
